Article submissions are a well known way to get as well a large amount of links, as quality links, and even more so with anchor text links and deep-linking. In other words; writing and submitting articles can improve your rankings, yes!


But, here's the problem; there are really not that many article directories out there that are worth submitting to. So, that's why i made this list, these are the 50 very best article directories. Submitting the same article to more article directories is basically pointless. While this list of the best free article directories are only those that give you a profile page, which means that the more articles you submit in the same directory, the more value that profile page gets and of course it passes it on to the articles as well. after submitting a serious amount of articles it becomes in fact more effective to work simply on the link building of those profile pages, instead of submitting even more articles.

I added some columns with the details to submit the article the right way; as the directory owner wishes. What's important is to prepare yourself; create different sets of the article; with and without links, same for the bio's; some allow up to 1.550 characters; that's a long text to embed your links in ... and so on.

The success of an article writing and submissions campaign, obviously depends mostly on the quality of the article itself!


Some practical points to follow when preparing your article.: *

This will safe you a lot of time while when you submit the article, as all those article directories have many different settings, requirements, ‘guidelines’, rules and most of all; a tricky finger to delete. Those article directorires that too easily accept anything and thereby damaging their own reputation are not min this list anyway. To submit your article to the top[ of the list of article directories is 1 thing; to get them approved is all that really counts.

Title:: *
The title should not be longer than 70 characters.
The most popular article reads are usually lists, tips, top 10’s and ‘how-to’ articles.

But make sure that it’s a title and NOT a list of keywords, with weird adding like a place name, don’t let your seo be too obvious.

Intro:: *
You need an introduction of maximum 250 characters and minimum 250 characters, so best to write an intro of about 450-500 characters, but make it easy to cut in a smaller piece (250 char.) as well.

Links in the article:: *
Some article directories allow to add two links in the body of the article, but not every directory. That’s why you need to check the list above and sort them by requirements.
To start with you need an article with no links, then 1 with 2 links and then an article with 5 links, but don’t fool yourself, they allow those links to refer to related sites. And that basically means most article directories will only allow 1-2 links to your own site and then the other links are for other sources that support the article. It’s best to search for some of those sites and actually link to them. Practically; linking to Wikipedia will associate you with an authority site, without helping your competition. Linking to those sites will also reflect positively to your links.

Biography:: *
Not all sites allow an extra bio – about the author – but most do. That’s usually where you will get your links from. While you do need a short bio of maximum 250 characters for a bunch of them. Many allow much longer bio’s. as it is important to have your links surrounded with some related text, it’s surely worth it to write a set of them, 10 or so. That’s what we do. The more variation in the surrounding text of your links the better.
